Algeria provides best business opportunities for exporters of plastics, printing, paper and packaging technology

Algeria is one of the three major importers of plastics, printing, paper and packaging technology on the African continent, with high growth rates. It is against this background, that Algeria“s 4th plast alger and 5th printpack alger take place in parallel from 5 to 7 April 2016 at the Palais des Expositions – SAFEX in Algiers. This international industry meeting is organised by the trade fair specialists fairtrade and their German-Algerian team.

To date, well-known multinational market and technology leaders as well as official country pavilions organised by advantage Austria, Business France and the Spanish association AVEP-the Valencia Association of Plastic Producers have already confirmed their participation at plast & printpack alger 2016.

Algeria together with South Africa and Egypt belongs to the three largest importers of plastics technology on the African continent with high growth rates. Algeria has more than doubled its imports of plastics technology from 60 million US dollars in 2010 to 133 million in 2014, a plus of 120 percent.

The most important supplier countries are China, Italy, Germany, France, Canada, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Austria, Spain and Turkey. The annual consumption of raw materials amounts to one million tons, half of which are imported from Asia and Europe. The per capita consumption of 8-10 kg provides an enormous potential.

Additionally, Algeria provides best business opportunities for exporters of printing, paper & packaging technology, as Algeria is the largest importer of packaging technology and belongs to the three largest importers of printing & paper technology on the African continent. Imports of packaging machinery and equipment to Algeria have been increasing with a CAGR of 13 percent over the past five years. And the imports of printing & paper technology almost tripled over the past five years, up to 126 million US dollars in 2014.

Based on these facts and building on the great success of the previous edition of plast & printpack alger in 2014, with 161 exhibitors from 24 countries and 3,083 high quality visitors, the organizers expect a further increase in quantity and quality for the 2016 edition.
