CHRISTIAN DEUSSEN – POP MUSIC AT IT´S BEST!

Between robust system engineering and „Mixed Reality“ visions

Rehm presented numerous highlights at the productronica 2017

Between robust system engineering and "Mixed Reality" visions

The Rehm Team at productronica 2017 in Munich

In which direction will the electronics manufacturing industry evolve in the future? The productronica provided answers to this question and insights into the latest trends in the world of the electronics industry from the 14th to 17th November 2017 at the Munich Exhibition Centre. 1,200 exhibitors from 42 countries presented their innovations at the world’s leading trade fair for electronics production and development. Rehm Thermal Systems was also present again at a redesigned exhibition stand with new concepts.

Quality „made in Swabia“ well received
In addition to system technology, the mechanical engineering company from Blaubeuren presented clever software solutions in order to optimally master the challenges of a „Smart Factory“ and to give a decisive impetus to the trend topics of digitisation, networking, big data and industry 4.0. The Rehm team looks back on a successful trade fair week and would like to thank all customers and partners for the interesting experience exchange! This positive response is also officially confirmed because, according to the final report of Messe München, 44,000 visitors from 85 countries came to Munich for the productronica 2017. This represents a growth of almost 20 percent compared to the previous event. The strongest growth in visitor numbers came from Taiwan and the USA, as well as from France and the Netherlands. In addition to Germany, the top countries visited were Italy, Austria, Switzerland, France, the Russian Federation, the Czech Republic and Great Britain.

Diverse product portfolio for soldering and testing of sensitive electronics
The Rehm reflow convection soldering machines VisionXC and the VisionXP+ with optional vacuum continued to attract great interest amongst the visitors. For the VisionXP+, the team presented numerous further developments, including the advantages of the new EC fan motors, a more powerful cooling section and design optimisations. VisionXC was presented in a special ViCON edition. This complete solution offers robust system technology combined with high-quality equipment, as well as the new, modern ViCON software including the ViCON app for mobile system monitoring. The ideal package – whether you are starting out or a seasoned pro!

The focus was also on CondensoXC, a compact condensation soldering system for small batch sizes; Securo for reliable cold or warm function tests and Nexus as a completely new series for soldering with contact heat and vacuum for use in the production of power electronics.

Selective conformal coating and live demonstration at the exhibition stand
For the safe coating of sensitive electronics, Rehm presented two tried-and-tested systems. Firstly, ProtectoXP in a longboard model, with which sophisticated PCBs up to 1.5 m long can be coated with high precision and up to four applicators. The system also offers numerous new possibilities beyond the area of conformal coating – for example, for the application of 2-component materials as well as applications for compaction, encapsulation or heat dissipation. On site, visitors were able to see for themselves the flexibility of the system in a live coating. The new ProtectoXC was interesting for customers who wanted to enter the area of protective coating with lower investment costs and low throughput. The system combines precise coating while concentrating on the essentials: the perfect protection for electronics!

„ViCONnect You!“ – optimally networked with smart software
In line with the overwhelming trend of digitisation, networking and Big Data, Rehm developed the new ViCON software with touch user interface – an innovative solution for easy operation of the VisionX-Series. The software supports the user in production control, profiling, product management, data recording and monitoring. In addition, the software team presented a number of possibilities for increasing efficiency and improving machine availability, including the ViCON Analytics monitoring tool, the ViCON Connect remote manager for monitoring the entire Rehm machinery and the ViCON app, which lets the operator keep an eye on production in a mobile way.

„Mixed Reality“ – See the world with different eyes through HoloLens
Additionally, there was another highlight for the visitors! Together with partner artiso solutions, the visitors were able to experience the reflow soldering process in a revolutionary 3D projection at the Rehm stand with a peek through the Microsoft HoloLens, which merges reality and virtual reality. A game or vision of the future? The experts on site have provided information on the various possible applications. In an interactive raffle, it was also possible to collect gold coin sweets – with a unique control system that works purely via gestures and voice commands.

We look forward to seeing you at one of our next events!

Dieter Dornig – Was macht der Weihnachtsmann in Afrika?

Dieter Dornig - Was macht der Weihnachtsmann in Afrika?

(Bildquelle: DDO Management)

„Was macht der Weihnachtsmann in Afrika“ angenommen.

SKIDATA keynote speech at the R&D Flagship Conference in Munich

An issue for the future: digitalization and networking

SKIDATA keynote speech at the R&D Flagship Conference in Munich

SKIDATA keynote speech at the R&D Flagship Conference in Munich

The R&D Flagship Conference was held in Munich´s BMW Welt on July 30, 2017. The focus of the conference was „Digitalization and Networking“ and this was the topic of discussion among leading experts from various tech companies – including Frank Lorenz, SKIDATA´s Senior Vice President of Research & Development. The guest list also included companies such as BMW, Bosch, Airbus, MAN and many more.

Keynote speech on megatrends and the influence of digitalization

Frank Lorenz immediately posed a provocative question: „Will we lose significant parts of our value chain and therefore our sales through „uberization“ and large tech companies?“ Lorenz´s keynote speech ranged from relevant megatrends to strategic options and the question: „How are we dealing with these challenges at SKIDATA?“

Experts addressed megatrends such as

– global mobile networking,
– permanent access to information and entertainment,
– the „Internet of Things“,
– social media and Web 2.0,
– multi-channel retail,
– and cloud-computing and big data.

It is exactly these trends that will drive forth digitalization in society and industry in the future. These topics have also long been a focus at SKIDATA.

Opportunities and risk of increasing digitalization and networking

In addition to defining the future megatrends and their impact on the digitalization of society, the following question was examined: how should industry and R&D departments react? The industry expert is of the opinion that in the future, investments in the area of e-commerce for B2C as well as B2B will be even more necessary as a dominant sales channel. Lorenz also believes that an increase in efficiency in one´s own business or B2B customers will be possible mainly through business process optimization. In addition, more priority will be placed on the topics of centralization and access to business data at any time. Further to the points already mentioned, Lorenz sees the following as essential:

– cloud-based management of the installed basis of systems and machinery;
– digitalization of payment processes and mobile payment methods (Apple Pay, Google Wallet, M-Pesa, WeChat, etc.);
– preparation for gradual digitalization of our currencies;
– and development of mobile commerce solutions and the availability of business data at any time on mobile devices.

Regarding risks, Lorenz focused on cyber security. According to the expert, all companies must make every effort to protect their own business and customers. „In particular, the first generation of IoT devices with very weak security mechanisms can cause a lot of damage. For example, by hacking hundreds of thousands of these devices to perform massive, dispersed attacks against critical infrastructure and institutions,“ said Lorenz.

Lorenz closed his keynote speech at the R&D Flagship Conference on a reassuringly positive and confident note: „Digitalization and networking is coming – let us shape them and take advantage of the opportunities!“

Interested in moving digitalization forward at SKIDATA?

Topics like the ones presented at the conference make technology fans´ hearts skip a beat – and SKIDATA has plenty of great job opportunities in R&D. Take a closer look at the wide range of assignments here: https://www.skidata.com/en/corporate/jobs-careers/job-vacancies-at-skidata/

Together with the Machines

PRUFTECHNIK celebrates 45 years customer centricity

Together with the Machines

Industry 4.0 and IoT have been dominating the industrial space in 2017. „So far, these have been merely buzzwords,“ counters Dr. Sebastian Busch, Managing Director of PRUFTECHNIK AG. „However, our customers have changed in the last 45 years – that is correct. They are not linear anymore,“ Busch continues. However, PRUFTECHNIK“s path has always been linear for more than four decades now – always ahead as innovative driver, market leader, and providing a direct link between customer and solution. On the company“s 45th anniversary, we are traveling in time with you and open the door into the future.

From the first simple ideas to today“s user-friendly, cloud-based measuring devices, PRUFTECHNIK“s image has changed drastically. The living room in Schwabing, Munich, where the first devices were produced, has long been replaced with a high-tech production line based on lean management in Ismaning (to the north of Munich). The company-owned premises do not only accommodate Production, but also, among others an in-house R&D department (hard- and software), Quality Management, Sales and Sales Support, Product Management, Marketing, Logistics, Service and Tech Support. At the same time, PRUFTECHNIK has its own branch offices in 18 countries worldwide and agents and distributors in 70 additional countries – we are as close to the customer as possible.

To maintain the service, support, and sales quality at the highest level possible, PRUFTECHNIK continuously invests in the development of new company-owned branch offices. We are currently completing the new offices in Wroclaw (Poland), which also accommodates a part of PRUFTECHNIK“s development efforts. Another new building has started in St. Petersburg for the Russian sales and service subsidiary. Furthermore, two new offices were opened in the past two years in the US. The Philadelphia headquarters manage the operations of the North American market with area-covering sales and service partners.

PRUFTECHNIK has always focused on the customer, rather than on the product itself. „We must understand our customers and their problems every single day and offer them sustainable and customized solutions,“ explains Dr. Busch. „Simultaneously, the demand for our expertise is constantly growing. Selling products is only a part of our business. Our maintenance services have long gained their own importance in providing holistic solutions,“ says the Managing Director, who manages the company in the second generation.

The variety of industry awards PRUFTECHNIK has won for its products in the last decades is another testament to the importance of staying close to the costumer. PRUFTECHNIK is and remains state of the art! Several products have been nominated for further awards in 2017. The innovative VIBGUARD Online Condition Monitoring System is one of the frontrunners for the renowned US-American „Maintenance Solution Awards“. Out of more than 500 products, ROTALIGN received mid of April the Finalist Certificate of the „Industry Award 2017“ of Huber Verlag (Huber Publishing House).

In 45 years, PRUFTECHNIK has advanced from optics and hardware producer to electronics and software expert, focusing then and now on the wishes and needs of the customer. And this can also be applied as our motto for the future: „We must stay close to our customers,“ explains Dr. Sebastian Busch.

About PRUFTECHNIK:
The PRUFTECHNIK group, with subsidiaries and partners in more than 70 countries worldwide, is continuing to set new standards with innovative technical developments in the sectors of machine laser alignment, condition monitoring and nondestructive testing to maximize and optimize machine and plant availability and to secure product quality.

Rehm to present new solutions for the photovoltaic industry at Intersolar in Munich

Visit us from 31 May to 2 June 2017 in Hall A2, Stand 330

Rehm to present new solutions for the photovoltaic industry at Intersolar in Munich

Solar equipment by Rehm, (from left) RDS Solar Dryers and Speedfire Firing System

Intersolar Europe in Munich is the world“s leading exhibition for the solar industry and its partners. The exhibition focuses on the areas of photovoltaics, energy storage systems, renewable heating technologies, as well as products and solutions for smart renewable energy. From 31 May to 2 June 2017, Rehm Thermal Systems will present an information stand in Hall A2, Stand 330. Our exhibition team looks forward to your visit!

In solar cell manufacturing, Rehm is offering its new Speedfire Firing System and RDS Solar Dryers for the typical metallisation of monocrystalline and multicrystalline solar cells. The flexible, modular system design allows a wide range of production layouts, while the low energy consumption and high throughput makes the equipment very versatile.

Speedfire – firing equipment for top-quality solar cells
The high quality of the Rehm Speedfire Firing System is particularly impressive. The system is capable of producing high-efficiency solar cells with minimum breakage rates, especially at high throughput rates of up to 5,300 wafers/hour. Many energy-saving improvements and a multitude of software tools help to optimise the production process. The system is equipped with adjustable, powerful IR radiators, which metallise the solar cells to ensure upmost process stability. Thanks to the new two-chamber system in the firing zone, temperature variations due to unequal loading of the two lanes are now a thing of the past. The system is available as a pure Speedfire Firing System or with integrated dryer.

LID tool – improving efficiency and quality
Monocrystalline solar cells that are manufactured using the Czochralski process, suffer considerable efficiency losses during the first hours of exposure to the sun. Since solar cells and modules are sold according to their performance, eliminating what“s known as light-induced-degradation (LID) holds tremendous economic potential. Rehm has develped and modified a process that prevents the LID effect. The regeneration of the solar cell is carried out with a laser tool at significantly higher temperatures than before and by using hydrogenated silicon nitride. The efficiency and quality of the solar cell is therefore significantly improved. This process ideally follows the firing step.

RDS Solar Dryers: Maximum performance for optimal processes
The production of solar cells requires a drying system that is perfectly adapted to the diverse combinations of wafers and pastes. Rehm“s RDS Solar Dryer dries a paste applied via screen printing onto silicon solar cells at temperatures of up to 300 °C, or in the RDS HTX version at temperatures of up to 450 °C. The system consists of a combination of multiple infrared and convection zones. As a result, the temperature profile can be flexible, but still set with pinpoint accuracy. The solar cell is then cooled down gently so that it can be processed immediately. The optional VOC Thermal Oxidizer for purifying the exhaust air is also available.

99.0 % less VOC – the Thermal Oxidizer makes it possible!
Rehm“s VOC Thermal Oxidizer offers one of the most effective residue management systems on the market. The organic compounds released from the pastes during the heating process (Volatile Organic Compounds – VOCs) are cracked and almost entirely converted into carbon dioxide and water. All available systems operate with a maximum separation of 99.9 % and thus comply with the legal standards of TA-Luft/Germany. Oxidizer systems with heat recovery, such as the available CFR (Counter Flow Reactor), are also particularly energy-efficient and environmentally friendly.

As a specialist in the field of thermal system solutions for the electronics and photovoltaics industries, Rehm is a technology and innovation leader in the modern and economical production of electronic modules. As a globally operating manufacturer of reflow soldering systems with convection, condensation or vacuum, drying and coating systems, functional test systems, equipment for the metallisation of solar cells as well as numerous customer-specific special systems, we are represented in all relevant growth markets and, as a partner with more than 25 years of industry experience, we implement innovative manufacturing solutions that set standards.

Euromold 2016 sets a clear sign: Modern product development and new manufacturing technologies in the focus

Frankfurt/Munich, October 14th, 2016: Euromold 2016 – the international Trade Fair for Mold- and Patternmaking, Tooling, Design, Additive Manufacturing and Product Development – takes place from October 25th until 27th, 2016 at the Exhibition Centre Munich, Germany together with the international Aerospace Supply Fair AIRTEC. A visit at Euromold is absolutely a „must“ for those, who are involved in the design, development and manufacturing of new products.

One of the main reasons to visit Euromold 2016 is to see the presented solutions, which cover all relevant industry areas. The exhibited products and applications from different fields show various points that they can fit perfectly together and open new and highly innovative possibilities. This is reinforced by the fact, that at Euromold often completely different exhibitors are located next to each other, and therefore take advantage of the exchange and the inspiration of the other exhibitors.

The new location Munich also supports the progressing character of the fair, as Munich within the region Bavaria is known as „the high tech location“ of Germany. No other region offers and supports future developments and technology companies to such a high extend as Bavaria does.

For visitors of Euromold it is also very relevant, that this year additional synergy effects will be created by the parallel running aerospace supply fair AIRTEC. At AIRTEC and Euromold exhibitors from all over the world are represented and will attract a great number of international visitors, which are for example particularly interested in additive manufacturing/3D-printing and looking for new attractive business opportunities and co-operations. At Euromold and AIRTEC 500 exhibitors from 35 nations are represented. 25,000 visitors are in total expected for both trade fairs.

Euromold 2016 will also take advantage of the organized B2B-meetings at AIRTEC 2016, as procurement/supply chain and technology managers from the aerospace industry arrange their meetings with the exhibitors of AIRTEC in advance and can therefore also plan and use their time for a visit of the booths at Euromold. In this respect, the nearness to AIRTEC is an advantage for Euromold, as AIRTEC has become for many years already the most international aerospace event and offers the possibility, that experts from all over the world meet and exchange the latest state of the art. New business contacts in growth markets with such a concentration are only be found at Euromold.

Euromold exhibitors and visitors can also register for the international congress for the aerospace industry at AIRTEC 2016. A highlight is the international conference day for Additive Manufacturing /3D-printing. Leading representatives of international top companies will present the latest developments and application possibilities of this technology.

The variety of the exhibitors and visitors is therefore so large like at no other comparable event. Here, designers, product developers, product managers, production managers and program managers, buyers, technology managers and all interested visitors, who would like to bring new products into the market, find innovative solutions for the topic „from idea to series production“.

Along the entire process chain of product development the exhibitors present themselves from the areas of industrial design, engineering, materials, CAD/CAM, CAE, mold-, model- and toolmaking, production, advanced manufacturing technologies like additive manufacturing/3D-printing up to smart factory „industry 4.0“. Due to this variety, which is not found at any other exhibition of this kind in such a concentration, it becomes clear how much they draw new business opportunities and learn from each other.

A particular position takes additive manufacturing/3D-printing. In the product development this technology is used in pattern making and prototyping as well as in small and series production or can also be used in combination with conventional mold-, model- and toolmaking. Exhibitors as well as visitors will make at Euromold 2016 together with AIRTEC 2016 many international new business contacts and will find new business opportunities.

At the new start of Euromold 2016 in Munich, the organizers demonstrate their twenty years of experience, which gives due to the creative combination of both exhibitions a new profile of Euromold. Therefore, Euromold is starting from this year again on its way in developing again into the worldwide leading trade fair for industrial design, modern product development and manufacturing, mold-, model- and toolmaking, additive manufacturing up to smart factory, „industry 4.0“. Therefore, Euromold benefits from many years of experience as well as opens up new future-oriented industry areas and targets customers from all over the world. Visitors from all relevant industry areas are cordially invited to Euromold 2016 in Munich, Germany.

Euromold 2016 takes place from October 25th until 27th at the Exhibition Centre Munich, Germany.
