arcon low-e glass: the clear solution for energy efficiency and comfort

With increased awareness and strict regulations demanding improved energy efficiency, reduced carbon dioxide emissions, and environmental protection, it is more important than ever to reduce energy consumption in buildings. By utilizing the most energy efficient construction materials available, the carbon footprint and operation costs of a building are dramatically reduced. Chief among these considerations is the selection of high-performance insulative materials such as thermal glass. arcon’s low-e glass provides the highest quality thermal glass solutions for any architectural glass application, and helps achieve extraordinary energy efficiency.

Modern architecture calls for intensive use of glass elements and facades to achieve ambitious designs and greater transparency. While many people might worry that this use of vast glass surfaces might cause buildings to lose valuable heat in the winter, this needn’t be a concern- as long as the right glass is chosen. arcon’s low-e glass provides extraordinary insulation against heat loss while still allowing the sun’s own thermal radiation to enter, creating superior interior warmth at a fraction of the costs seen with standard glass http://arcon-glas.de/en/products/low-e-glass-1.html

Low-e glass is specially treated with high-performance coatings which are highly reflective and have very low emission in the long-wave IR (infrared) wavelengths. This creates glass that is an extraordinary insulator against heat loss, and helps to keep the heat on the right side of the glass. In the chilly winter months, low-e glass keeps valuable heat on the inside, while allowing the sun’s warming short-wave thermal energy to enter. Low-e glass acts as a high-performance thermal insulator, improves energy efficiency, reduces heating costs, and reduces the environmental impact of a building.

arcon’s low-e glass is created using a state-of-the-art cathode sputtering method which deposits microscopically thin layers of coating directly to the glass. This special low-e coating can be applied to nearly all architectural glass types up to 12 mm thick, clear or dyed in the smelt: float glass; tempered safety glass (including printed, enameled, and alarm tempered safety glass types); heat strengthened glass; laminated safety glass; and several ornaments. To ensure enduring performance over the lifetime of the glass, arcon’s low-e coatings are always employed in insulating glass. Bildquelle:kein externes Copyright

With over 30 years of excellence in coated architectural glass, arcon glass products are used in such high profile constructions as the Barcelona airport, the velodrome of the Olympic Games in Athens, the administrative buildings of the Milan trade fair, and the Palace of Justice in Luxembourg.
