The Domains sme-finance-monitor.co.uk, sound-man.co.uk and paragons.co.uk at Auction
Several recently dropped and subsequently caught British domain names are currently being auctioned at Domainlore. Some of them stand out not only because of their age, but also because of their existing backlink profiles.
One of the most notable names is sme-finance-monitor.co.uk. Originally registered in 2011, the domain has a history stretching back around 15 years. According to the auction data, it has an Ahrefs Domain Rating (DR) of 15, a Domain Authority (DA) of 32, and approximately 615 backlinks from 515 referring domains.
Particularly interesting is the origin of some of these links. The listed referring sites include The Guardian, BBC, SAGE Publications, Computer Weekly, HuffPost UK, International Business Times, and Global Banking & Finance. This gives the domain a noteworthy backlink profile for a recently dropped name. The auction ends on 5 October 2026 at 15:44 (GMT+1), with the current price standing at £50.
Another domain currently under the hammer is sound-man.co.uk. Here, too, the existing SEO profile may be more interesting than the domain name itself. According to the auction listing, the domain has an Ahrefs DR of 26, a DA of 19, and a PA of 26, with 198 backlinks from 163 referring domains.
The listed backlinks include links from well-known technology and academic websites such as stanford.edu, ubuntu.com, kernel.org, gentoo.org, lwn.net, infradead.org, and mplayerhq.hu. The auction for sound-man.co.uk ends on 5 October 2026 at 15:42 (GMT+1). The current price is also £50.
A further noteworthy auction is paragons.co.uk. Originally registered in 1999, the domain has a history of around 27 years, making it particularly interesting from an age perspective.
These examples illustrate why auctions of expired domains can be interesting not only to domain investors but also to buyers looking for established web assets. Domains that have been in use for many years can accumulate substantial backlink profiles. If such a domain expires and is subsequently caught by a drop-catching service, its historical link profile can represent an important part of its potential value alongside the domain name itself.
