tML-Duo: space-saving cabinet for cable trays optimizes server connection

Dortmund (Germany), December 3rd, 2013. With their tML-Duo tde – trans data elektronik GmbH now offers a 19 inch cabinet for laying the distribution components directly underneath the mesh cable tray. This space-saving and multi-functional mounting can be easily attached to the mesh tray above the server rack without tools. With its two height units it additionally offers enough space for tde’s own plug-and-play cabling system tML – tde Modular Link or other passive as well as active components. This way, data centres can optimally use the space above the server rack and can connect the server to the structured cabling in the best and fastest way.

With this 19 inch cabinet for cable trays tde – trans data elektronik GmbH follows the trend to relocate the network cabling from the raised floor of the server rack to the cable tray. This way, it is easier to reach the cabling, to re-arrange it if necessary and it is more energy efficient, because the air in the raised floor can circulate better.

tde especially designed the tML-Duo because of its space-saving connection arrangements: Instead of in the server rack the 19 inch cabinet is mounted underneath the mesh tray on top of the server rack. The connection arrangements therefore do not require any space in the server rack and in combination with tde’s own tML- or tSML-system it offers the best packing density for little space even with two height units. Knurled screws ensure a quick and tool less mounting. Since the server ports can be patched directly from the tML-Duo the vicinity to the server allows the patch cables to be very short. The result is a cabling system structured through and through.

„Time-saving re-cabling, easy access to the network cabling system as well as energy efficiency are requirements which modern data centres have to meet“, says André Engel, tde – trans data elektronik GmbH’s CEO. „This new tML-Duo meets these demands and in combination with our plug-and-play capable tML-system it optimally uses the limited space in the server rack.“

tML system: minimal installation effort

Pre-assembled and modular systems such as the tML-tde Modular Link are especially suitable for cabling: the completely pre-assembled, very compact plug-and-play system consists of the three main components module, trunk cable and module rack and is easy to set up with little effort.

In combination with the tML-Duo the network technicians firstly lay out the cables in the mesh tray above the server rack, mount the 19 inch cabinet for cable trays underneath the mesh tray and subsequently implement the tML-modules. After connecting the trunk cables on the back of the module the system is ready for use.

The tML system includes back-mounted MPO/MTP and telco connectors which connect at least 6 ports with 10GbE or GbE performance at the same time. tde offers OFC and TP modules which can be used together with high port density in just one module rack.

tde – trans data elektronik GmbH is an internationally successful company, which has specialised in the development and manufacture of scalable cabling systems for highest packing density for more than 20 years. Amongst others, the European Organization for Nuclear Research CERN relies on the competence and know-how of tdeꞌs technology-leadership in the multi-fiber-technology. The product range „Made in Germany“ includes system solutions focused on Plug&Play for various fields such as Datacom, Telecom, Industry and Defence. As a full-system provider tde offers the entire range of services from planning to installation from one source and supports the Code of Conduct for energy efficiency in data centers, an initiative of the European Commission.
